After yesterdays blog, I was asked how does someone help a person who is in recovery? For those of you who are “normies” in other words not an addict or an alcoholic you first must understand what it is like to be one who struggles with drugs and alcohol. The best way I can explain it is…turn the stove on, put your hand on it, watch your flesh burn, feel the excruciating pain, see your hand start to blister, go to bed and the next morning repeat everything over again.
It is an insane way of living life but that is the closest explanation of what this disease is like…psychotic. Basically what I am trying to get across is that there is nothing that any human being can do to help someone battling addiction. Only God can remove the desire to abuse drugs and alcohol.
Fortunately for me I have been able to have God wipe clean all the crazy thoughts of my past. Today I can sit here with all the chaos that Satan can throw at me and be able to live a joyful life in sobriety. The only way that this is possible is by praying daily, reading the Bible daily and helping out others struggling with addiction.
The answer to the question first stated in this entry is prayer, unconditional love and more prayer. There is nothing that anyone could have done for me to make me sane. It is by the grace of God that I am alive today. For all those that read this blog I humbly ask that you be in prayer for…
Andrew M, John M, Dan A, Rhyse T, Adam S, Dave P, David P, John R, Megan M, Karen S, Eric B, Tanner, Ed Z, Zac D, Rick A, Dave G, Todd B, Evan M, Steven B, Tim P, Reza, Justin B, Eddie N, Bruce V, Will W, Adam H, Jeff J, Dave B, Chris C, Nick C, Grant H, Garret T, Matt H, Steve, Steve B, Alex O, James F, Scott P, Eric M, Jim A, David J, Frank B, Matt P, Joe H, Kenley D, Jeff A, Donnie B, Kevin O, Brady, Jersey S, Steve G, Stew L, Mignon M, Ty E, Keith W, Tim C and whoever else that I may have forgotten. There are millions of people battling addictions and each needs as much prayer as possible.
If you don’t know what to pray for…thats ok. Here is a sample of what I say when I am praying for those in recovery.
“Gracious Heavenly Father, thank you so much for today. Thank you for the opportunity to come before you. Please bless “_____” , show him/her your amazing love. Comfort them in their time of need. Grant a peace which surpasses all understanding. Your love and mercy are priceless. Allow Your will be a part of their life. Show them that You are an almighty and caring God. Remove all the fear and guilt that separates us from Your love. Bless us in all that we do, show us what Your will is for our lives. Thank you for loving us in our broken and scared state of mind because its only through You that we have redemption. In Your precious son Jesus name I pray…Amen”
