First college class in I don’t even know how long. It was also the first time I actually felt out of place/stupid….ever. There was the usually kiss a** & know it all who dominated most of the class. 4 hours of sitting and listening to “theology” that kinda bored me. There were moments I was thinking “I could like this” but most of the class was spent thinking “how the hell does this apply to those I work with, they could care less about the Apostle Creed and Nicaea Creed.”
I took a crap load of notes, probably 12 pages or more. Enough scribbling that the girl next to me asked if I could email her what I wrote. When the professor asked me what I thought of the class all I said was ‘If I knew the author of the book that we had to write on would also be the teacher….probably would have re-written my assignment more than 5 times.” Yes, the professor is also the author of the required reading text for the class. Yay.
As I drove back home after 4 hours and sore brain the only thing I could think of was… Wow, im finally finishing my degree. Its not gonna be easy but that’s ok. The challenge of being surrounded by students that have already take Theology 101 while the course is 103…bring it. I’ll have to probably buy more books and spend extra time researching certain things. If this is a teaching tool that I can use for the guys in my house I embrace it knowing that this is also where Im gonna have to hold on even tighter to God.
