theOasis
a peaceful area in the midst of a difficult, troubled, or hectic place or situation.

Starting in January 2012 theOasis, located in San Juan Capistrano, will serve as a sober life-coaching center along as being a safe place for those in sober livings to enjoy the fruits of sobriety. theOasis strives to encourage growth in the areas of mind, body & spirit…. physically strong, mentally stronger & spiritually strongest. The ravages of addiction decimates those three areas of life, our goal is to rebuild from the rubble a cathedral that can show the transformative power through Christ. The center is the culmination of years in the recovery field. From house manager at a renowned treatment facility, interning under the head of the program, starting my own ministry, running a sober living and recently ordained; ive seen a need for something in addition to a 2-3 month stay in a residential setting. What has sprung forth is a vision that was placed on my heart years ago. A center that has an area for one-on-0ne discussions, a “living room” type setting for movies/special events/relaxation and fully equipped Crossfit inspired gym.

The vision that has been placed on my heart has been refined and refocused after working in a rehab center, sober living and ministering at a recovery church. With such a large community with so many needs, the one-on-one training is helping those connect to Christ if they have Him as their higher power. The gym will consist of 500+lbs of weights, pull-up bars, ropes, kettlebells, etc…anything and everything needed to strengthen your body, we will have. The living room area will have a huge flat screen TV + BluRay player + PS3 game console for maximum entertainment enjoyment. Once a month we will have UFC Fight Nights and the weekends will have movie nights as well. Scattered throughout the week will be Bible Studies geared toward recovery and various 12 Step Meetings where talking about Christ is acceptable. Currently there are meetings planned specifically for those in sober living, recovery based workers and a Men’s Stag.

Christian Sobriety Coach

-Spiritual Program: One on One discipleship based on Biblically based principles. The most important foundational pillar is a solid personal relationship with Christ. Over the years God has blessed me with an ability to effectively share His Word with those that have strayed from their faith in a way that is simplistic yet challenges others to dig deep seeking to know who He is. I take notes during each sit down and formulate assignments based on the clients response and questions. They are required to meet at least 3 times a week to go over what they have been assigned. Developing a solid relationship with the Christ equips them with the tools needed to help deal with emotional issues and start figuring out how to transition back into real life.

-Emotional Skills: Helping them talk out their problems and concerns. Draw out real feelings and the ability to do things without being on an emotional roller coaster. They need to deal with the issues that cause them to run towards drugs & alcohol in the past.

-Physical Awareness: Exercise & Diet. Use basic Crossfit tenants. After each workout they are reminded that if they listen to their coach they will successfully complete each WOD (workout of the day). Much the same that if they listen to the suggestions from the sponsor, they can stay sober.

I provide personal training sessions once per week (group classes & open gym is included) while providing a weekly workout plan. There is a nutritional guide that lays out exactly what to eat depending on the clients goals (Formulated by a Level 4 Personal Trainer who graduated with a degree in nutrition that I have at my disposal).

-Relationship Skills with Family: Coaching them on how to talk with loved ones. Many lack the skills to effectively communicate, most times those new in recovery lose their temper and the rest of the day is a struggle. I sit down (upon request) to overhear the interactions with family. Offering suggestions on what to expect, what the family is expecting and how to properly handle conversations in an appropriate manner.

-Life Skills: Help with writing of resumes so when they leave treatment/transition they can start to look for jobs. Making sure they are properly dressed when they get applications and coaching them through the interview process. As a former manager/owner of a family business I bring to the table a step by step process to looking for employment. If they require help with setting up bank accounts, learning to manage finances or applying for college those are other areas that they will receive guidance.
